Malaysia – Malaysia consists of East and West Malaysia, situated from across the South China Sea. East Malaysia is primarily the states of Sabah and Sarawak commonly known as the Malaysian Borneo.

Sarawk – Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia, with the land size almost equal that of the West (Peninsular) Malaysia which consists of 11 states. The population is only 2.6 million, with a land lass covered mostly by 100 million years old primary forests, and secondary forests. It has 6 major ethnic group. There are 6 major ethnic groups. The 2 largest indigenous people are the Dayaks and Ibans.

Sarawak Experience – You’ll experience the best highlights near the capital city Kuching and around the areas that are accessible by land which includes Bengol Valley, Bako National Park and Batang Ai. Your accommodation outside of Kuching are simple but safe and comfortable equipped with modern facility.

About this package – Expect plenty of natural and scenic sights with walking and hiking activities. Most notable are the guesthouse stay in Bengol Valley and the long house overnight experience in Batang Ai to experience the Iban culture.

Fullday tour starting with morning Heart to Heart with Orangutan Tour. Lunch is included. Afternoon visit Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. The Heart to Heart with Orangutans is a unique conservation initiative run by Sarawak Forestry in collaboration with the Sarawak Convention Bureau. This one-day program allows you to actively participate in orangutan rehabilitation at Matang Wildlife Centre and Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.

Morning at leisure. Afternoon 1245pm departure for Bengoh Valley.   A half-hour drive to the small township of Padawan where you’ll be guided to hunt for a new pair of hiking shoes. These locally acclaimed legendary rubber shoes are ideal to walk on mud. Another 25 mins drive will take you to the gates of the Bengoh Dam. Take a 20 mins boat ride across this magnificent lake glides you through lush greenery of hilly and mountainous backdrop until we reach the foothills of Kampung Sting, a resettled Bidayuh Village.

Wake up to the crowing of a multitude of roosters from villages near and far. Get ready for a day fun filled with adventure as you prepare yourself for a day hike to the majestic falls of Kling and Susung. This walk brings you through lush secondary forests, fruit orchards, cocoa and pepper plantations.  You will also see how the villages are powered when you pass underground rivers and small waterfalls along the way.

A walk across the bamboo bridge suspended by 2 steel braided cables will put you to the rest (if you are afraid of heights).  The first waterfall to arrive is the 3 tiered Kling curtain falls. Take a dip in the cooling waters as your guide prepares lunch.  Return hike to your homestay later in the afternoon.  Rest, relax and enjoy an afternoon high tea before dinner is served.

After breakfast, take a short trek up the hills where you will gaze upon the entire valley looking as far out to Kuching and at times if visibility is clear until the far reaches of the South China Sea.   Return to homestay and depart for Kuching via same arrival route.   Lunch is served en-route.   Return to Kuching and drop off at your hotel.

Morning pick up from the hotel and depart for Bako National Park ( Daytrip ) with Lunch at the Park Café

After breakfast, depart for Batang Ai Lake; passing through scenic countryside consisting of quaint little towns, villages, padi fields, pepper and oil palm plantations interspersed with secondary and virgin jungle as the road starts to wind and undulate as you go deeper into the interior with a short stopover at Serian Town.  The 2nd stop will be for lunch at Lachau, a small town on the way to the resort.  Arrive at Batang Ai Hydro Lake.  The journey will take you across the lake into the Engkari River, one of the many tributaries flowing into the lake.  The journey will take approximately 37 minutes before reaching Ukom Longhouse nestled on a hill beside the river.  Check in to your dormitory styled accommodation and explore the longhouse at your own pace while discovering its people and its surroundings

After dinner join the longhouse residents for a glass or two of tuak (rice wine) and a short cultural performance.  The Iban are a fun-loving people, and visitors are expected to join in whatever activities are going on at the Longhouse!  Overnight in the guesthouse.

After breakfast, enjoy a blowpipe demonstration and try shooting one yourself.  Then take a walk around the vicinity of the longhouse to learn about the traditional uses of plants in Iban culture and observe the longhouse resident go about their daily routine before proceeding for a trek to visit a small waterfall if weather permit.   A traditional Iban lunch will be served.

Later in the afternoon back at the longhouse, explore with your guide on the daily lives of the Iban people. Witness the Ibans go through their day-to-day activity may it be pounding of paddy, deshelling of pepper, weaving, beading or the man mending their fishing nets. Sit down with an Iban lady should you wish to learn the art of beading or weaving and perhaps make one yourself as a souvenir.

After breakfast, return back to Kuching via the same route.  Lunch stop along the way.
