Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) Manitoba Update

In Canada, ACTA certification is a sign of confidence for all travelers.

On November 7, 2016, the Manitoba Branch of ACTA held the annual general meeting at Canada One Travel Pembina Highway location, with teleconferencing set up with other agencies across Manitoba.

Here are some of the strategies that ACTA Manitoba/National is engaging in:

  • Consumer Protection for Manitoba – our province presently is not regulated, and that leaves the consumer open for big losses if there is an airline or agency bankruptcy or fraud.
  • Professionalism in the Industry – we are promoting to the public to book their travel with an ACTA member agency.  There are regulations that each ACTA member must follow in order to be a member, including fraud protection.
  • Education – we promote the education of all ACTA member agencies and their employees to ensure that ACTA member agencies have the most professional and educated agents!  This includes the Certified Travel Counselor and Certified Travel Management program, along with the ACTA Learning library which includes the Air Canada Expert Certification.

We work diligently to bring the agency community together with mixers and an annual golf tournament that allows all our member agencies to engage in discussions with their colleagues in the industry and discuss their challenges and rewards, and what ACTA can do to continue to assist!
